The Proper 700R4

I NEEEEEEED a new trans because my old one is junk...junk...junk, literally it only shifts when you let off the gas or are going very slow. Also it jerks when you put it into drive......BAD. Think of a whiplash effect.....yup thats me shifting into drive. LMAO. Anyway I was just wondering how could I BULLETPROOF an already bulletproof tranny?

I am buying a new one so start from there. I AM NOT REBUILDING THIS JUNK.

I just want to know if there are upgrades for the internals of the tranny?

Any help will be appreciated.

A search would find this info quickly........

That said, look into PATC(raptor 700r4) or Pro Built. They're the only two companies I would trust. Dana at pro built is very helpful on this board.

I know a guy who kept running one of my built 700's after it developed a cooling line leak. - It's now had 1500 miles on 3 trans from a shop that charged him $2400 to rebuild it. The best one so far has lasted 700 miles...... Mine had over 20k, no issues till it ran over 100 miles on less than 1/2 the fluid it should have had.
- Spend the $ with a reputable shop, you won't regret it. 700's are much tougher to keep together than older 3-speed autos, too many shops only think they know what they're doing.

Unless there's something wrong with the case, then get a kit from Pro-Built and rebuild it. You'll likely end up with something stronger and more reliable than anything you can buy, for less money. Plus, you know exactly what's in it and how it was done.

Im going to take out my trans and open it up. See whats going on and, if everything is okay (except the bad part) then I will buy the kit from Pro-Built. How much? And how hard is the install?

Last thing I am going to say is I just want something to really last ALL THROUGH SUMMER. So looks like I really dont need a complete one just yet.

- sorry, I just re-read that part and realized something very important, 700r's have never been even remotely close to "bulletproof" without aftermarket parts.

- Unless you really know what you're doing with tolerancing everything properly and intend on buying/fabricating the neccessary tools, pay someone to do it for you. Auto trannies are very difficult to build. It's MUCH easier building motors, and I come from building 1000+ hp blower motors.

Been waiting for you to chime in...I'm sure you've seen more than I have. - Most everyone down here is scared to death of 700's because "they won't take any power". I just say, true, the trans shops around here can't make them live......

Look into a place called Bowtie Overdrives...they make a Level 4 Trans that will handle 630 HP/TQ. it's mainly a full race trans. they also have a level 3 trans(which i will be buying soon) thats a street/strip trans that will handle same 630 HP/TQ but is more streetable then the level 4. level 3 cost 1395.00 level 4 is 1795.00. comes with lockup components in trans, and is a direct bolt in for stock 700R's.
