Ok I purchased an aftermarket t56 from spohn.net with their crossmember, torque arm, transmission bracket, spec stage 2 clutch. Ok well this has been a horrible experience right out the gate. Installing the transmission I had to relocate the slave cylinder on the other side of the bellhousing so the clutch would work. From their the clutch chatters alot or at least that is what it seems like. Any gear above 3K their is a horrible vibration, that gets worse with increasing RPM. While cruising if you take your foot out of the gas and hit it the gas it makes a clunking noise kind of like the torque arm is loose, even the shifter moves a little. I have checked all the bolts, had the pinion angle set to 0 degrees, new trans mount and motor mounts. Some one please help me before I completely loose it and either rip everything out and go back to stock or just burn the F@%$ing car!!!!!
Is the vibration there when you have the car in neutral and over 3K? Check your angle of the front u joint it should be the same degree as the rear but opposit IE if the rear is 2deg down the the front should be 2 deg up. check and make sure the bellhousing is centered in the pilot bushing. You can measure across the bellhousing centering studs to the pilot bushing. If any of these are out or if yo have a ciezed ujoint, you can have a hellatious vibration. Hope this helps. John

check and make sure you have the right size pilot bushing/bearing. If it is to big then the input shaft will not be suported and the clutch plate will run off center every time the clutch is engauged. John

The vibration is there in neutral, and infact it seems worse when the car is placed in neutral. Pilot bushing was replaced and was snug when I put the clutch installation tool in to install the clutch assembly. When setting the pinion angle it was as you say 2 at the front and 2 at the rear, I even had a local speed shop check it to make sure. The only thing that I can see is the transmission is not sitting square on the transmission mount. It is tilted off at about 11 degrees, like the stock T5. I am ready to just rip this out and go back to stock, its driving me nuts.

If the vibration is there in neutral then the problem is in the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel or the input shaft of the tranny itself. Or a misalignment of the motor and trans at the bell housing mating surface. Sounds like something is out of balance. Hope this helps. John
I don't think you want to have the transmission clocked 11* like the T5. Maybe it won't hurt anything but it's not required and just sounds problematic. As for the torque arm clunk, I'm not sure why it makes that noise but mine does the same thing after the swap.
Ok the car has been moved to Goodyear Arizona due to an upcomming deployment. I need to know of a reliable shop in the area with experience with this setup or at least experience with our cars and T56 swaps. Thanks for the help.
My car clunks too a little bit in neutral, my shifter moves up and down some too. Something just feels not right. torque arm, motor mounts, tranny mount, rear end, ujoints what???? It feels loose
