Re: 700R4 Blues =(

oh yeah, I have a precision converter sitting on the floor right now that is going w/ a trans I'm building for a buddy's '38 chevy street rod. I've gotten midwest and precision from PATC.

Re: 700R4 Blues =(

Yeah. These steels are definateluy thinner. But it was a 'kit' that they (Superior) puts together regularly for customers. It was also similar to ones I found online at some tranny builders too. Superior just has the bulk componets and puts them together for each customers preference. Im not a builder, so I didnt already have a plan. But I took the setups I have seen done from kits that ProBuilt, A post I saw on Here from a Goggle search find and a couple other sources. I was thinking 8 but they put me together a 9 pack. Ive seen using 2 different steel thicknesses and some had a 4-4 split on those and another a 5-3 split. The Snap rings Ive seen listed in .128" and .093" thicknesses. And the Alto site has a 'setup instructions' on there for using their product. They provide a 'custom' .062 snap ring for some of the applicatioons. I think my ring is a .093" but I need to check 1st. Heres is some info I found http://www.altousa.com/ib57757b.htm and http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/tr...-probuilt.html (700R4 HD parts ??? Probuilt?) On the TGO page, scroll down about halfway and some orders are given. If I could get a 'best estimate starting point' on mine from someone, it would help me greatly be comfident to start in the right part. Its just everyone has a different method and its hard to follow the best route. THX =) Michel

Re: 700R4 Blues =(

As for mine, I just got the one from the bone yard and just had it rebuilt at a local tranny shop. They did a great job. Shifts smooth as silk. I have another 700R4 for them to do. They charged me $550.00. I was able to install it in just a few hours. I only wish that I could rebuild one myself.

JB.
