knocking from t5?

search button still broken?
here goes: my car will make a thumping/knocking noise from the front of the transmission/rear of engine. it comes and goes seemingly at random and is much louder inside the car than from underneath or under the hood. the speed of the knock is related to engine speed, not vehicle speed. it occurs in all gears and neutral, whether the car is warm or cold, moving or stationary, clutch in or out.
it first started after i got the clutch replaced, the guy at the shop told me the noise would go away after the new clutch was broke in... well it did, for a few months, then came back. so i have no idea what's goin on.

clutch in or out
There's your primary clue right there.

It CANNOT POSSIBLY be the transmission. Or the clutch. Cross them off your list of suspects.

The description sounds alot like exhaust touching the car body.

The "search" button is still OK, I think; but the server behind it seems to be TU.
