Tonight i was driving my manual 1992 firebird, and when shifting into third at a high RPM, i heard a loud clank and now my shifter feels loose. everything runs fine but in general the shifting handle seems to have more room, it just feels looser, not as tight uncompromisingly hard to shift (as it was at times).
Is something broken? should i get this checked out? thanks
yep. probably mount. the last two camaros i've had both got the 'clunk' right under the armrest. it might be hard to tell if the mount is broke while the weight of the tranny is on it. if you have to, you can put a jack under the tranny and drop the brace. the mount will probably just fall apart
