and i am looking for a t56 cause i have done looked it up and know that it will bolt up to the l98 as long as i have all the parts and be able to work on it and know what i am doing
but i still have not been able to find a good one for a fair price for me i was wondering if there are any ones out there that people are willing to sell i have been to junkyards so i know what prices i am looking at
And "a fair price", in your opinion, would be .... ?
And, a price that the people who have the parts but you're not willing to pay, would be .... ?
Things are worth what they're worth. There's not a deal until both the seller and the buyer are willing to make the deal. If the seller thinks that he can turn your offer down and get a higher offer from somebody else, he won't take your offer. It's called "capitalism". This exists in its absolute purest form, when dealing with junk car parts. They have no value whatsoever (well, almost none.... scrap metal) except what someone is willing to pay for them. You can't "order" them; you just gotta wait until somebody wrecks a car with what you want. Then, if you're not the only one that wants it, you gotta make the seller WANT to sell his stuff to YOU, instead of the other guys. Guess how you make him WANT to do that.
That's just how it works.
Either you want the parts and are willing to pay what it takes to get them, or you don't.

The simplest explanation that fits all the facts is probably the right one.
i am just looking to see if anyone out there is selling a used tranny for a price that i am going to be able to afford i am not asking for a certain price i am just seeing what people are seeling them for and then decide to buy it or not
HuggerI-Roc had one for 1250.00 a week or so ago. That is a good price. i have been looking at trannys for a while and I was tempted to buy his but just ordered a TKO-600 instead. I plan to create more than 400 horses and knew I had better put something behind it that would hold up. I'm at 375 now with 390 ft-lb of torque.. No wonder those T-5's didn't last.
i'm on ebay all the time and a great price for a mid mile tranny from a 93-97 is about 800. now add clutch, pedals, yadda yadda and you have the average price of 2K. If you can get a lower mi. "kit" w/ everything for 1,500-1,800 then jump on it. or go to a junkyard and buy a whole car that is wrecked bad and take what you need and scrap the rest. you just have to have pactience to find someone who does not know what they have. "Good" parts are expensive. If you have the dough and the luck grab the 6 speed from a GTO. That's the best 6 speed bang for the buck IMHO.
I have an lt1 t56 out of a 97 trans am with 56,000 miles, bellhousing, LS7 clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, shifter etc. Check out my cardomain for pics, I may be selling it... I bought this whole setup for 1000, I may be selling for 1,100
