700R4 Dipstick tube

Im having a tough time getting the dipstick tube back in the trans after having it out and rebuilt. Trans is back in and in place, any suggestions. Go in from the top, the bottom? And it should bolt up where? Any constructive help would be thankful.

Re: 700R4 Dipstick tube

i leave the tube hanging against the back of the block when i stab the trans. when i get the trans flush to the block i install a couple bolts and then drop the filler tube into the trans. and the filler tube bracket lines up with one of the bell bolts. you may be able to drop the filler tube down from the top - good luck if you have a/c or headers. you may be able to drop the cross member and let the trans. hang and sneak it up that way.
