TCC Lock up

Here in a couple of weeks I will be putting a 350 bored .40 over in my 84 z. I also will be putting a new 700r4 in a few weeks after that. The question is I just bought this TCC Kit that came with a wire harness and Pressure switch for it. The istructions say I don't need to open the trannie to install. I just screw this pressure switch in to the port on the drivers side, replace the wire harness and wire it up to a keyed source of power.

It works by when the vac pressure is high enough it engages the switch and supplys power to the lock up mech.

Does this sound right.

Re: TCC Lock up

You mean the ported vacuum source on the drivers side of the carb.?
If so, yes, it makes sense, that way it'll not only disengage near full throttle but also disengage when you coast which is the way the ECM was programmed to do it originally.
The TCC function is controlled via a plug on (the drivers side of) the tranny.
I'd wire power through the stock extra brake switch to disengage TCC when you slam the brakes so the engine won't stall in an emergency manouver.
Original wiring is like this: from key, to brake switch, to tranny, to ECM, to ground.
Kit wiring (imo) would be: from key, to brake switch, to tranny, to vacuum switch, to ground.
Hth.

Re: TCC Lock up

This kit does not plug into the ported Vacuum. It plugs into the test port on the driver side of the tranny. Let me get the kit wiring----Pos from key to brake switch to trany to vacuum switch and then ground the switchh to the frame?

Re: TCC Lock up

The word port is used for pneumatic or hydraulic inlets or outlets. Plug or connector is used about electrical stuff. There's a test port on the drivers side, but it's for measuring line pressure. There's also an electrical connector on the driver's side, but it's not a test connector, it's normally connected.
So does the vacuum switch connect to full manifold vacuum then?
I gave you the way the factory wired the lockup function, and the way I think the kit should be wired for best safety & ease of installation. However, since I have never seen such a kit I cannot tell you how it's manufacturer intended it to be installed. You are the one with the installation instructions, so unless you scan and post them here I really can't be any more specific.
