I really do not know much about either trans I just know that I need one.
Please help me weigh the decision!

tell me about it! over half the stuff i personally put in my car is from craigslist! im gonna call it....the craigslist car. but anywhoo. i think a t56 is a nice swap and upgrade. 6 gears seems hella fun also.
6 speeds is fun, if mxcrazed goes that route though he'll need to change his rear end gears also though. Believe me I had a 9 bolt 2.77 with the M29 t56 and I never even touched 6th. the 4.11's are perfect though, I just did a 6 hour trip 2 days ago cruising at 100mph at 2500rpm and got around 24mpg
no. Mine is a ten bolt. Just with your 2.73 rear if you wanted to go to a lower gear 3.23 and up will need a 3 series carrier, or you can get aftermarket thick gears that can work on a 2 series carrier.
It is of course much easier to find a rear end with the gears and posi you want already complete..
you don't need a LS1 rear, all 82-02 F-body 10 bolts are the same with some slight internal differences, namely in 88 they switched to a stronger 28 spline axles. Also different brakes through the years also. 88 and older got iron calipers that are junk, 89-97 fot 11.65" PBR aluminum calipers (more desirable), and 98-02 got 12" disks with massive aluminum calipers (the best).
You don't have to upgrade your rear end if do decide to go t56, just a forewarning that it's not much fun with 6 speeds and 2 series gears.
also 4th gen rears are longer forgot to mention that.

Reason: none
Well if I remember correctly from another thread he blew up a T5 not that long ago, so I would say the logical steps are for him to first get his hands on a T56(my preference of a TKO) then do an LS1 rear because I like the way they sit in the cars. By the way I have a spare one that I would be willing to sell now that I'll thinning out my supply of extra parts. Then do 17x11s in the rear.
i have the adjustable torque arm with cross member attachment, driveshaft with yoke and bell housing adaptor for the tko set up.All spohn with about 14k on them. and it was used behind a stock block so not much stress on anything. I have the trans too but Im not selling that one. I do suggest the tko though if youre going for big power eventually. they are built stronger and can be built to hold more than any t56. But if youre into a lot of highway cruising, the 6 spd may be better. if you want the parts call me 505 379 1917. I dont check the threads often so thats why you can have my number. Good luck!
