when i did the swap the guy at advance auto parts said to use dexIII .i added that. i don't remember if it whined when i first drove it. but it started to bother me and one day i say tranny fluid on the ground. so i checked it, it was low and refilled but this time i added lucas trying to quiet the noise. also i don't have the interior installed , just the seats, no carpet or insulation. could that be why i hear mean it always makes that noise but i have nothing to block the sound. or did i burn it up when it ran low. any suggestions?
also when i drive it, i drive it hard. its a stock 305 tuneport with a thermomaster chip, airbox cut, accel supercoil, 2:73 and i'm always burning the tires.
somebody changed it. i bought it like that. they must have done it for posi or something. if you look under my car its pretty rust free until u look at the rear end.
Being that it is a non W/C you can reduce the amount of noise it makes by switching to a 30 weight motor oil.
It will shift a little harder than with the ATF but better than if you goto a 90 wieght.
Avoid using synthetic fluid in the non W/C, shift quality will suffer over time.
someone (mustang guy) told me that the T5's use more straight cut gears for the low gears, and helical cut gears for 4th and 5th. My WCT5 does this also, very audible, with the proper ATF.
All 5 WC t5's I have drove, whined and wouldnt go into reverse w/o grinding.[/quote]
To stop the grinding, try shiffting to 2nd first then shifft it into reverse.
My nearly stock '92 RS has some transmission whine. I only notice it with the radio off and the windows up in lower gear. Also, reverse is non-synchro, so "first then reverse"
Ive tryed putting into all sorts of gears, then into reverse. Still seems to grind. I have best luck with 5th to R. But still does a quick grind noise.
