my tranny dipstick is leaking???

Okay guys i have just swapped a new 700r4 in with a new motor on my car.
My only issue is im leaking tranny fluid. At first it was the lines. I then fixed them.

Now it looks as if im leaking out of the dipstick. the dipstick is the original one from the old tranny.

Is there a seal or gasket i needed? or is it too overfilled if its leaking from there? Im really confused

I thought maybe the oil pan gasket, but the whole area where the dipstick goes in is oily

Re: my tranny dipstick is leaking???

At the top of the dipstick tube, or at the bottom where it goes into the transmission?

You need a new top hat seal. It probably got torn up putting the dipstick tube back in.

same thing happened to me. new packing fixed it. make sure your dipstick didn't get bent or anything while you had things apart and that its torqued down tight.

It's between the dipstick tube and the transmission. You might be able to get one at a local parts store. They cost about $1.50.

Re: my tranny dipstick is leaking???

I can't think of which way I usually do it. I probably put it in the transmission first.

Alright thanx. i hope this one seals fine. it has a small rip on the bottom of it, but it is perfect at the upper part where it seals
