700-r4 lost 3rd, on 2nd rebuild, trans guy lost

I haven't been able to drive my car much in over a year. The trans had a problem about 1 year ago after tinkering with it and a trans-go shift kit. The symptoms where that 3rd gear was slipping. Now I got this trans used and it worked fine except for the fact that if you where crusing on the freeway in OD and punched it the trans would act like it was downshifting but more less wouldn't and would slip. Then let off the gas and it would go back to overdrive. I was told if I put in a trans go kit from 700r4.com then that problem would go away. I installed the kit and it made the shifters quicker and harder but didn't solve the OD downshift issue. So I learned to live with the OD issue and it kept me from doing much WOT action. Then last year I switched to fuel injection. I had to drop the pan to change the wiring to the lock-up solenoid. So I decided to add a new trans go seperator plate and I made some changes to the governor too because sometimes the part throttle shifts were too far apart at light load. I also noticed in the trans go instructions that I never drilled a hole in the valvebody "bathtub" which I did. I put it all together and then when I did a test drive 3rd gear slipped and was gone. So tired of messing with it I took it to a trans shop to have it rebuilt. Got it back and on the first test drive 3rd again was non-existant. Now I just got the trans back in the car after the guy went through trans again checking things. I have the same problem that 3rd gear is wrong. Only now it feels almost as if 3rd gear is fighting 4th or something. Also I think he gave me a stock converter that is very tight. What would cause third gear to behave this way using a trans go kit. Was drilling a hole in the "bathtub" a bad idea? I am afraid the trans guy I used won't be able to figure the issue out. The 1st-2nd shift is fine but 2-3 is very delayed and feels like it slips then by the time 3rd does come in 4th comes and the engine lugs around 1500 rpms crusing at 45. Also I was doing 50 and shifted into drive and the tires barked and the slowed down a lot. Almost like I was in 2nd.

get another valve body and start from scratch. the drilling the hole in the bathtub slot is for the '87-up aux. valve bodies. you have a '84 which is non-aux. also if you were following the aux. instructions, you might have a checkball in the wrong place.

I apologize I did not give all details. The trans is from a '92 Z28 so it does have the aux. valvebody. At the time I installed the shift kit I re-checked things and thought it was correct. I supplied the shop rebuilding my trans with the instructions I got from Dana. I thought about getting a new valve body. There is a stock one on e-bay but I don't know what the application is from.

Well I pulled the transmission for the 3rd time this year. He's going to rebuild it again but this time we are going to try a new valve body. I think if I install a shift kit it will be only the Jr. Trans-go and not the 2-3 reprogram.
