question on gearing..3.27 vs 3.55 vs 3.73 help!

Right now i have 3.73 gears in my car. The top speed in third gear at redline(has 700r4) is about 100mph give or take a mph or two. i hit this speed at the very end of the 1/4 mile. would my car run faster e.t's with 3.55 or 3.27 gears, allowing me to stay in first and second gear longer or is this the best setup?

Also anyone know of a way to shift into overdrive at full throttle? are there any parts available that allow this?

thanks

If you have a 10-bolt with 3.73 gears, the next step down is 3.42's I believe. If you get your car running faster in the 1/4, you'll need a taller tire, or less gear.

B&M makes the kickdown cable for your trans. You'll have to search for it, as I dont know the part number.

ok, but would running a 3.42 make the car quicker in the 1/4?

Do you want a lower ET, or a higher MPH? Anybody know this?

Probably not, if the car is still accelerating at the traps.

What is this "redline"? Is it just the trim paint on your factory tach? If so, that's altogether meaningless as far as how to set it up for racing.

What is the motor?
