how does a tranny temp gauge go in? i want to get one for my car, but not sure if i wnat to or not.

is it easy to install? does the tranny have to be dropped? is it inline with the tranny cooler lines?

what range should i get? i noticed there are a couple different temp ranges. the most common seems to be the 100-250 degree one. i assume this will work, will it?

if anyone has one of these, what one did you get? what do you reccomend? i think i am just gonna get one of teh autometer ones...not sure which one though.

I imagine you just tap a hole into the tranny pan, and screw the sensor in. Good time to drain the fluid & change the filter!

My Summit remote trans filter housing has a fitting that a trans temp gauge can be screwed into. I don't have one, so I left it plugged with their included brass fitting.

The gauge is probably electrical, so the hardest part would be running the wires from outside the car to the inside- use a grommet!

Hey 'Z28 Boy' I've got the Autometer Pro-Comp UltraLite 2 5/8 one. (Full race scenario)

I can answer a few questions, NO you don't need to remove the trannie.

My book on TH350's tells the best place to install the sender is in line on the return oil line at or near the firewall, away from any exhaust. Did you get all that ? If I remember right that is the upper line.
I havn't ruled out, putting it in the pan however.

No I havn't install my yet, since I need to figuer out which damn AN fittings I need...

If your Trannie Oil exceeds 250F, thats BAD.
I know varnish begins at above 250, @ 275 poly seals start to harden ect...
All I'm saying the 100-250 scale is OK.
