I tried to G-Tech my car last night and whenever I had it floored and tried shifting it would stick in the prvious gear until I lifted off the gas. any opinions apreciated................Buy the way I managed a 14.1 @ 103 driving it like a stick shift with rubber flying through first gear!
I have heard that you cannot have OD while you are at WOT, it wont shift to OD unless you let off the pedal a little. There is a way around this, but i forgot how.I would check the archives. Now, if you are having trouble shifting 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd at WOT, than thats a whole nother issue.
The 700R4 Transmission is designed not to shift into overdrive if your foot is all the way to the floor. You must be at 2/3 throttle or less before the tranny shifts into OD. So when you hit the top of 3rd gear, you'll have to let off the gas to allow for the shift. But putting your foot back into it will probably cause a downshift resulting in the same problem.
B and M makes a kit modified kickdown valve (part # 70237) which fixes this problem. It costs about $30 and can be ordered through the Summit or Jegs. GM also makes a modified upshift valve which it included in police packages and that part # is 8673948 and sells for around $15. This will allow the tranny to shift into OD at full throttle.
Its not only the 3-4 shift it was all of the gears. I would hit redline and shift it up but the tack just kept on going, so I would lift off the gas alittle and bang Id get the next gear, then I could get back on it.............I think I just need to come to reason that I killed 2 700r4s this summer! Goin to a 6 speed!
Check the governor. It sound like the governor is malfunctioning. It is on the drivers side next to the tailshaft. It might be a little dificult to remove and install the round cover.
by the way that B&M piece doesnt work! Mine downshifted on me @ 130 when I planted the gas. I about **** my pants when I saw the motor head towards 6500
The 700r4 will shift into 4th at WOT. My 90 IROC does and the tranny has never been touched. Vettes and some IROCs have this feature I dont know about the pontiacs.
Good luck!

Black 90 IROC, L98, A4, 323 gear. SuperRamed 406 in the works!
The 1991 & later Corvettes have the TV plunger sleeve that is modified (4-3 part throttle down shift eliminated), you can do this to any 700R4 by eliminating the plugging the two part/throttle holes with allen plugs a grinding them flush with a dremel. I will put this information up on this site in the next few days. I do this to every 700R4 transmission I build unless the customer does not want this. If you have any questions call me at 800 7763288 Mon-Sat 10-6 PST, and I will do my best too help!!
Correction; you can do this to any 700R4 by eliminating the part/throttle passages, by plugging the two part/throttle holes with allen plugs and grinding them flush.
