Torque Converter ?'s

Switching to a 2400RPM stall Torque converter and was wondering if anyone can recommend or not to add an extra trany cooler. The radiator I have has one but I have heard the the torque converter can increase the fluid temp. I am also having trouble picking a lockup or non-lockup setup. Any help would be great.

Considering adding a trany temp gague too is it worth the money and trouble? I could add it and watch the temp and use that to decide if I need the extra cooler.

You definetly need a cooler w/ that stall speed. They're generally cheap and really easy to install. Go for something from B&M. They put out a decent cooler.

I would put an external cooler on a stock transmission. A 2400 rpm converter is all the more reason to get one.

I don't think you need a cooler,I asked every conv. maker and trans. specialist I ever heard of before I did mine and they all said the same thing, until you go to around 3000 stall or a smaller diameter conv. you don't need a cooler(but it is not a bad idea,I'd rather over do it then burn it)

What about the Lockup vs. Non-Lockup. Some manufactures dont even specify. Has anyone heard of Buckeye Torque converters? The guy at the local trany shop recommended them.

I recomend a lock up type converter. The non-lockup converters are ok for the first week or so.Then it kinda get to be a hassle running around at stall speed all the time.
The whole reason that the manufacturers even invented lock up type converters was too let the transmission cool down.Heat kills
a trans. So if you are running down the road at 2300rpm with a 2400 stall converter. You are putting out some serious heat. A trans shop will tell you anything, its NOT THEIR MONEY! THANX<ANDYZ28
