clutch or trans issue ?

After driving for a while a squealing noise develops. I can tell it is coming from behind the rear/ bottom of the motor and infront of the trans. Above 2000 RPM it does not squeal, however at stoplights it sounds like a stuck pig. Engaging and disengaging the clutch will change the pitch but not intensity at idle. Also when the car is first shut off and with the clutch in or out the squealing noise continues for a few seconds (i assume from the rotation of the motor still). The clutch appears to be working (smooth shifts etc) and feels ok. Also the sound is independent of gear location (nuteral first second ). I dont know if anyone has encountered this before but any advice about how tosolve it or better diagnose the problem would be greatly apreciated.

oh its in a 1989 formula 305tpi f speed

Re: clutch or trans issue ?

Sounds like your release bearing is going to need replacing in the future.
