To make it easy on myself I will ask this here first before I go out and try pulling it out. Is the dipstick tube on a 700R-4 tranny, in a L98 TPI powered car attached to anything besides being plugged into the tranny itself? Is the tube possibly bolted to the cylinder head? I forget what it looked like when I did my head swap 1 1/2 years ago and now I am removing my trans and need to know if I just jerk the tube out or if I have to look for a nut attachment somewhere. I'm taking a break and thought I would check with you guys first. Thanks!

If I remember correctly, it shares a bellhousing bolt. But yes, there is one attachment point.

That is correct, and getting it out ain't that bad, but it's a PITA going back in cuz you got a wire harness bracket attached to that same point... I have small arms and it was still a pain for me...

GMT, you were correct. It is attached at the top right bellhousing bolt.

thunderstick, do like the tranny shop that did my converter swap a few years ago did: leave the wire harness clamp off! I discovered that today. The wire harnes was not bolted to the trans. And, 3 of 6 bellhousing bolts had backed off!
