saginaw 4 speed

I am rebuild an old saginaw 4 speed for a friend (its going in the 1st gen he hasnt found yet). Does any one have the specs for the input shaft preload and countershaft clearance? Thanks in advance

i'm thinking i do, but it's in the garage and it's cold out, and late. if you don't get the info i'll look tomorrow nite when i get home. sure hope you don't need it before then and that i do have it after i said i did.

ok it's still cold out but i made the trip to the garage. near as i can tell from my book you have the type 19 saginaw 4 speed trans. i couldn't find anything on input shaft preload. my book does say to choose selective fit snap ring .087, .090, .093, or .096 and install in groove in main shaft behind rear bearing max. clearance between the snap ring and rear bearing face is zero to .005. for the counter shaft it says if end play exceeds .025 to install a new thrust washer. hope that helps.

Thanks Ede, i appreciate you going out in the cold for me. It was about 15 deg here the other morning...the old Holley wasnt too happy about it either.
