B&M Megashifter not ratcheting

I have a B&M Megashifter attached to a 700r4 tranny in my camaro which is conected to a small block 350. This shifter is suppose to rachet from drive down into first, but will not do so, it makes the rachet motion but does not shift down unless i hold pressure on the closest inside plate to the driver's seat. Once down in first it rachets up perfectly fine. I checked the cable and the cable is fine, could someone help me with this problem.

Re: B&M Megashifter not ratcheting

Yea its actually fine i believe that there is something inside the shifting mechanism thats screwed up possibly a spring or something. I could tear it all apart but i just wanted to see if anyone has this problem that knew a quick way to fix it. Thanks though

Re: B&M Megashifter not ratcheting

sounds more like the spring in the shifter you should be abel to get a spring kit at youre loacal speed shop , the one in my 87mc ss drag car did the same thing and it was a spring ,if it was a cabel it wouldent go int any gear and you would know if it was broken when you have to lay on the groung to put it into park!!!!! but when you do this ,if it hapens ,make shure to do it with 2 people ,so you dont get run over!!!!

ASE cert auto tech!!TEAM ASE RACING!! There is a fine line between crazy and stupid !!! what side of the line are you on???
