700R4 Shift Kits

I'm looking for comments on another wild idea of mine.

I've run street/strip shift kits in Turbo 350's and 400's in the past with pretty good results. But I've always wondered about using a reverse pattern valve body in a transmission.
I know that they are pretty expensive and intended mainly for all out racing in a serious car. But I'm just curious about using one on the street.
After talking to some transmission shops, it seems that if you go to a reverse valve body in a 700R4 (maybe the same for other trannys as well), you have to use the transmission in a totally manual shift mode only.
What kind of bad things could happen if I put a reverse body/manual shift into an otherwise stock 700R4 on the street? I mean so stock I probably would use the stock converter.

Has anybody ever run anything like this on the street?

Re: 700R4 Shift Kits

I would not recommend it, as it is hard on the front pump, and it does not work well either for a variety of reasons. Dana
