Performabuilt Transmissions....comments

Hey guys, I have enjoyed lurking here for some time, I finally had motivation to post.

I am looking at a new 700R for my 1990 Corvette. I have come down to Performabuilt for the following reasons:

I came across this, which I think I am leaning toward:
http://performabuiltautomatics.com/G...00r4_4l60e.htm

Here's the reasons:

1. it seems to have all the top of the line parts, I had someone who knows transmissions look at it, they said with those parts you'd be hard pressed to make a stronger 700R

2. They have a 1 year warranty, which is longer than the 30 days most offer

3. They offer that if the trans ever blows up while you own it, it's a $900 replacment

4. They are pretty local, 2 hours away

5. Good customer service, the guy got on IM chat with me at 11:30 at night

6. They have been in business for years and I can't find anything bad about them

7. They only do performance work

8. they came recommended by a friend

Any insight to Performabuilt? Any suggestions for another company?

I appreciate the comments.

They were 20 miles from my home in Pa, and are helpful here.

Re: Performabuilt Transmissions....comments

I'm running one of their level 2 700R4's in my 88 GTA and couldn't be happier with the quality. It's been in spirited use for about 4 months now with no complaints. It even impressed a buddy of mine who is an ASE Master Tech with about 6 years experience in transmission work on cars and fire department equipment.

I also have one of his Level 3 700R4's that will hit the streets this weekend after months sitting while I built the engine in front of it. If it's anything like the level 2, I expect it to run hard and last quite a while. If not, I'll be taking him up on his rebuild option and try it again.
