Whats a fair price for having a new clutch installed?

I have a clutch. I want it installed. I have a 5 speed '89 RS. What will most shops charge just to install it?

Thanks!

depending on the labor rate in your area, i'd say 250 here. that would be around 5 hours flat rate. i don't have a book so the flat rate is just guess.

The price will vary by area, state, county, even city. Therefore, asking on a tech board that has people from all over the US, heck even the world, wont give give you a good answer.

Ede might can get it done for $250. ln your area they may go for $400. So, instead of posting here, and getting your hopes up on a $250 quote, get on the phone and call around to find out. That'll be the quickest and most reliable.

While youre at it, ask them about price vs. them supplying the parts also. Most places wont warranty the install if you provide the parts. lf lm gonna pay someone to do the job, l want a warranty w/ the work. Also, most places charge more if you provide the part. Such that the price of their labor w/ your part is probably close to the price of their parts and labor. Just something to think about.

A six pack for the assitant.

Clutches are easy all you need is the alignment tool. $10 bucks give or take. It will take you the better part of a day if you take alot of breaks. Grab a friend and a few cold ones and enjoy. You can do it alone but taking the trans out is alot eaiser with 4 hands.
