If you are making power, this is what you need, nothing that will handle 1000 HP but i have one and it is a very nice unit, way better than a 7.5 will EVER be.
Just to let you guys know i dont think this rear end belongs to the original poster. They are in two different locations if you look at the ebay auction. I think he was just informing us of its existence. And wow do i want it. Shipping would kill anyone with that thing.
Also i would be weary of the seller on ebay. 66% positive feedback and only two transactions? That is no good. For something that expensive i would be very cautious.

Thanks for pointing that out. I have all new parts to rebuild me whole 10 bolt rearend so i thought I would sell them for this but you just changed my mind.
that rear looks to me like it has a open diff in it
It looks like one to me too but i havent looked inside enough diffs to say yes or no. I know what eaton posi's and 9 bolt posi's look like. Thats it. Also anyone else notice the really bad scratch marks on the carrier? What the hell happened there?
There are others but few and far between. It was a service replacement for the 9 bolt back in the day. It was also availible for somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 directly from GM. When the firehawks were made this was the rear end that they got. And that ends my Dana 44 knowledge.
Some one needs to buy it and I did.
Mint condition. It was originally purchased new (directly from Dana) buy the seller for his SCCA '88 Camaro.
I'm hoping this will solve the problem I had last season with my busted 9-bolt.
I even ended up with a 2nd gear set.
Now I have to source out rotors, calipers, backing plates etc...
I've got to thank forum member ZONES89RS for the heads up! I've been working on this for over a month and finally brought it home today.
Glad someone bought it, but i think i am going to sell my dana 44, hell, i just got a 12 bolt moser, so i am pretty sure it will be better than the 10 bolt

I picked up that Dana right at the guys house in Indiana. He runs a SCCA race car so on the outside the rearend is mint. I was on my way to Chicago from Toronto for a parts pickup blitz.
I owe you one. If you were closer I'd buy you a beer! And buy your Dana for a spare.
I still haven't done anything with it. I need brakes. And I'll upgrade the front brakes while I'm at it. Probably an 1LE setup front and rear.
Thanks again for the heads up.
