V6 Gears In a V8 T-5

A few questions that a search did not answer for me.

1. Is a V8 T-5 physically stronger than a V6 T-5?

2. Can the gear sets out of a V6 T-5 be put into a V8 T-5?

Thanks In Advance Everyone.

Re: V6 Gears In a V8 T-5

've run a v6 t-5 behind a 300 hp 360 ft/lb motor for three years now autocrossing and it's held up just fine but i've heard of people with less hp breaking v8 t-5s. in my opinion i think they're all the same it's just the driver. i did run a v6 case with v8 gears also so i'm sure you can put v6 gears in the v8 case. the gear ratios didn't work for me so i switched back to the v6

Re: V6 Gears In a V8 T-5

I've always wondered the same thing except the other way around, I've wanted to put a T-5 behind the 3.4/3400 I'm building but didnt want the short V6 ratio.

Re: V6 Gears In a V8 T-5

I have a 305 TPI I am building and one of the V6 T-5's has real low 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears with a 0.76 overdrive that i want to put behind my motor because my car weighs close to 4300 pounds.

Re: V6 Gears In a V8 T-5

That sounds good to me but I'm hoping someone can tell me if the input shaft out of a V8 can be put into a V6 tranny so I could use a performance clutch.

You could only swap the input if the tooth count for the cluster gear is the same (which it won't be, due to the ratio differences).

I too agree that they V6 units don't seem to be any weaker than the V8 units. They all have a weak case and all eventually break if stressed passed the design limitations of the case.
