84 z28 posi rear?s

I just got the 84 z28 posi rear now my first question is what posi is better? my 88 has the basic springs and the 84 has some kind of locking? system well the 84 looks tuffer but, isn't newer better? also for my second question can the 84 get replacment clutches or is it like the 88 non servicable.

Yeah, newer's better. The Eaton Gov-lock (Governor-controlled Locker) isn't a sturdy piece. I have it in the '84 Trans Am axle that I put onto my '86.

I don't know about rebuild kits; if you find one, let me know! I'm missing some chunks off the teeth of my spider gears- it was that way from the junkyard.

Auburn sells replacement center sections, but they are pricey and cannot be rebuilt. A SLP takeoff and getting 28 spline axles would be a great option. They are on sale this week for about $75!!!
