i've head that with an edelbrock carb, you dont get the proper extension of the detent cable because the "arm" it attaches to is shorter than the rochester's. can this be corrected by re-adjusting the cable? or should I rig something up to get the arm to the proper length? im wondering about this because my trans shifts too slowly from 1-2 at WOT, yet it is fine at part throttle. I would like to fix this before it kills anything else in the trans. I'm gonna put in a vette servo but this will probably be only a cover up and not a fix. To me it seems like the line pressure is low at high rpm's, but then again this only happens on the 1-2 shift. any other ideas on what it could be? or what would cause low line pressure? thanks for any help
Measure the travel of the tv button on the carb arm.
There should be a min of 32mm of travel from full throttle to idle.
Also the cable\bracket should be level with the carb button. If you add a high rise manifold, you must raise the bracket to match the original geometry.
This has nothing to do with the adjustment of the cable detent. Without this travel, the tv valve will never work right.
If I am wrong, somebody here will be sure to correct me.

Go to http://www.transmissioncenter.net/ and they sell a peice that will correct the geometry! I recently purchased one of their Raptor trannys and had to get that part for my 1406 Edelbrock carb.
http://www.transmissioncenter.net/highperf700r4.htm is its exact location on the website and its bullet #22 about 3/4 down the page it says new beside it! I think thats what happend to my old trany I didnt have one of these erlier and it slipped !
