i drove a friends eclipse and it had a dual gate shifter in it. i liked being able to shif gears manually but not have to use a clutch. i found a dual gate shifter for third gens while i was engrossed in my year one parts catalog. i was wondering what i had to do to my 700r4 to use a dual gate shifter.

In your car the shifting behavior of the transmission is controlled by the valvebody in the transmission. In the Eclipse the transmission is controlled electronically by the computer and the shifter is just an input to the computer.
anyway back to my original question. what do i need to do to my tranny to install the shifter from year one. it says it comes with shift plate and all that stuff and it uses the stock shift cable. is there anything else i need to do to the tranny or do i just plug it in and go? also does anyone else have a dual gate n is it worth the money?
The console version just bolts in and goes. I have one, for you I don't think it's worth the money because it doesn't sound like it's what you're looking for. If you still want it, you should call Year One to see if they actually have any. It was discontinued when B&M bought Hurst several years ago.
alright thanks. its in the new catalog i just got about 2 months ago and still on the website. the eclipse was the only car i knew that had it so it was easiest to compare it to. i dont get all the technical stuff about it but it does what i want it to. it shifts with out using a clutch. lol. i want it for racing. are there any other products that are similar that is "more what im looking for"?
If you want it to ratchet up and down a shift at a time, the B&M Megashifter would be closer, but even still it won't keep the transmission from shifting when it wants to any more than the stock shifter does. If you want fully manual operation, you'll need a manual valvebody.
yeah i am installing mine tomorrow finally after three years my gf bought it for me for christmas 3yrs ago and since my old camaro didnt run i didnt install it so now i have a 90 iroc i will install it tomorrow
i dont want the ratchet. i already looked at that. thats how i came across the dual gate. apeiron u werent much help and dont ever tell me what i want or dont want again. or what im looking for. i knew what i was looking for i just didnt know how to explain it. im gettin the dual gate as soon as i get the 'maro running again. i prolly wont be asking many more questions on here.
yeah i got mine in yesterday and love the shifting it feels great and to me its not really a ratchet shifter its more of a gate shifter because to me the rachet is like the b&m where it has the rod you pick up so it doesnt go into another gear but the hurst doesnt have that it just locks in i love it
