700r4 to t350 swap

I got a 92 rs and after blowing up my 9th 700r4 within 2 months I said screw it im converting to a t350. Had it built with hardened input shaft and full stage 2 parts. Was putting it in everything bolted right up except for the torque converter. Torque converter on the 700r4s had a spot for the bolts to go in and suck it right up. The 350 just has some plates where the spots are supposed to be? Suggestions? Im confused on what to do with this. My car has been down for about 7 months over tranny problems and this is starting to piss me off

t350 came out of a 70s camaro

Nevermind, thinking with a clear head usually helps -_-;; and now the tranny mount wont line up with the crossmember 2 1/2 inch difference. Yay

Re: 700r4 to t350 swap

had the same problem, u have to put the all the bolt in on at the time but dont torque them, when u have all 3 in, then u torque the.U may have to use another nut. dont forget to use locktite, the blue one. U can either buy a new mount- or use one from a 82- or (like i did) just measure and weld a piece on it.

Re: 700r4 to t350 swap

I did that. Took a fuel block off plate, drilled 2 holes in it and welded it on. Worked Great. Got the car running tonight and drove it the local car meet. Trans isnt working right it. Taking it back to the shop tomorrow. Shifts are horribly off. Speedo is roughly 10mph off. If i try to cruise and slowly accelerate itll drop into neutral. Left in 1st to do a race, Before i could even shift up..it shifted on its own into 2nd and then 3rd(shifter was still in 1st) oh yea and theres this horrible vibration once you get to 30mph and gets worse the faster you go. So yeah if anyone has any idea on how to fix any of this please tell.

nice. racing from the local cruise night. makes you wonder why the police sit around eh?
sounds like the swap went terrible also, fabbing a fuel block off. nice.
I think the vibration is coming from all the weird stuff you're doing. what length TH350 did you use? sounds like the "stage 2" is actually a stage nothing. I'd be pissed also. What beat you? Wasn't a **nda I hope.

Re: 700r4 to t350 swap

nah wasnt a rice cannon. Thank god id have to commit suicide. The vibration was coming from the driveshaft for some odd reason. took it out and did a half turn on it and now theres no more vibration. Shifting issues are still there. Also found that my tv cable is tight as all hell. Wondering if thats part of the issue.

Re: 700r4 to t350 swap

it's not a t.v. cable on the TH350-it's a kickdown cable. hello.
I like the enthusiasm, but come on. A little research on something would go a long way towards having something that is good.
If it wasn't a rice cannon what was it? a stock diesel truck? you didn't say so I have to guess here.
Maybe they weren't racing at all.

Nah stock 02 camaro ss. So my camaro is back in the shop and looks like itll be there for awhile. Apparently whoever built the thing didnt align something just right and it broke as soon as i put it in gear. Im starting to wonder if I should find another shop x_x;;

a bouncing th350 is sad. those should never bounce unless it is a rookie builder. i'd be very suspicious right about now

If you still have a TBI inducted 350(listed under your name) then I'd have gone elsewhere after the 1st 700r4 failed.
