700R4 filter

Installing a shift kit in my 91 700R4. When I removed the valve body from the trans a small filter fell out. It's a tapered filter about an inch long . Its black with a white filter. The diameter is about 1/4 in. I think it goes into a opening next to the Pressure regulator valve? However, I'm not sure.

Thanks,

John

Re: 700R4 filter

yes, it is a filter close to the pump in the valve body channel of the trans. it is a t.c.c. solenoid screen. There is also one at the rear of the case but it probably didn't fall out because it is installed at an angle. it is a governor screen. both screens are the same.

Re: 700R4 filter

Thanks Ed. Hope to have it together tomorrow. I think it would have been easier to remove the trans than working undrneath the car.

Thanks again.

Ed,

As i was buttoning up the trans, I realized the hole I put the Filter in was the hole for the crossover tube. Here's my question. Apparently I have assembled it without the Tcc screen for the governor. If I leave it out, will this be a problem? I am sorry I wasn't clear about the hole I was talking about.

Thanks again,

John

Re: 700R4 filter

you did the whole thing wrong.
the filter doesn't go in the aux. v.b. tube at all. and neither does the governor filter.
you can vaguely see locations E and D as the correct locations in the lower left and upper right hand corners of the pic
