Alright fellas, i cannot find the part numbers for the swap, i need to know what they are, there were a couple of flywheels for this, i know centerforce was one of them, i am thinking the centerforce might be the same as the small block maybe? Cannot remember, but i need suggestions for a clutch and how long will the T56 last behind a BBC before i need to rebuild it. t has 140k miles on it in my 95 and i will be swapping it out with a T5 so i can use it in the 89. I bought the big block but it is in bad shape, so i am bringing it back to exchange it next weekend.
If you know the Mfg flywheel/clutch you want, they should be able to help you with p/n's.
Depending on the TQ of your BBC, your driving habits, the weight of your car, etc., the T56 may last a few years or a few days... :-/ I've opened up 140K mile T56s that look brand new, and 40K mile ones that are trashed.
If you're concerned about longevity, I'd suggest going through the T56 before installing it, that way there won't be any surprises. You can upgrade it to handle 700+hp while you're in there, just need the time and cash.
(I've got a 800hp viper-spec LT1 T56 on the classifieds if you really want to thrash the BBC)
The trans should live longer if you choose an aluminum flywheel. The flywheel has to match the crankshaft, as in 2 piece rear main seal or 1 piece, internally balanced or externally. Nearly all BBC flywheels (that aren't for trucks) use an 11" clutch, which, conveniently, is the diameter the T56 uses. Clutch has to match the method of release. The '95 Z28 used a pull-away type clutch, and if you stick with that, then use a higher-rated clutch for a '95 Z28. Those clutch kits cost more, but should be less hassle than trying to convert to a more traditional style of hydraulic release.
Not sure what manufacturer i want, i need the numbers to see what is available, i think Hayes makes a FW now for the swap too. I have a Dual Friction clutch right now, but i really dont think it is good for over 400 FWHP really. I wish i could convert to the older style clutch setup, but i have been down that road and it is impossible to find a bellhousing that will work, and i already have the T56 setup, so it is cheaper/easier.
I don't know what you mean by "older style clutch". There is an adaptor plate that will mate a T56 to a T5/Muncie/Saginaw/SFI style bellhousing and allow you to run any bell/clutch/linkage that works with your car and motor combo.

You only need an LS1 input shaft ($180 new, $50-$75 used). I'm doing a LS1 input shaft conversion right now. Far from impossible.
