4l80e swap from old 700r4

anyone ever done one, im doing a turbo motor and gonna make some pretty high numbers and i cant relly on a 700 to do the job even at level three they are just at 75o horse rated...

and the car is a driver, so i need an overdrive, this is where the 4l80e comes in, its basically a th400 with an overdrive stage one with upgraded sprags and drums holds over 1200 horse which is perfect....but i jus dont seem to have enough info on anyone doin this swap...i searched and pretty much nothing, i need to know a few things

is the TC the same

can i use the same driveshaft

crossmember will have to be made right

will i have to mod the tunel to make it fit..

and im goin with a manual valve body so no need for the electonical controler

anyone done this....if so let me know what it took....im pullin the motor to start fabbin in a week or two and id like to swap the tranny b4 i drop teh motor back in...

Re: 4l80e swap from old 700r4

hey gta, can you get more info from your friend, if you can that be great, what size driveshaft, converter splines are differ i assume, and how hard was it to make the crossmember....and whta did he do with the torque arm...

and as for my car, its a 87 iroc, gettin a big, big turbo on it in the next week or two....im gonna start fabbin up the kit....so i might cracnk the booost up high one day and i dont wanna worry bout the tranny...

Re: 4l80e swap from old 700r4

Converter is different, it will likely be the most expensive piece to the puzzle. The driveshaft will need to be shorter(you'll need more than a stocker for that kind of power anyway) and will need the Th400 (iirc 32 spline) yoke, and you will need to fabricate a crossmember. A little modding with a BFH as neccesary for clearnace and you should be fine.
