700r4 (1-2 accumulator spring snapped)

the spring snapped in the 12 accumulator (the one next to the auxilary valve body in the tranny) would this be why the car only goes into second at part throttle? wont shift at wot. i inspected the rest of the tranny couldnt find any other problems with it. also, this is an 86 tranny, when assembling, does the acumu. spring go in 1st, then the piston? book says piston then spring, but i have an 87 tranny that was just rebiult and it had the spring 1st . im thinking the tranny shop made a mistake? or would the different years change this? every thing else looks the same except for the tcc sensors.

It goes piston first then spring. This should not keep it from going into second though, it would just make it bumpy.

If it is only second that does this then likely your band is slipping.
