I am still trying to figure out why my torque converter wont lock up. So far I have replaced the TC solenoid and the switch by the brake pedal, but it's still not fixed. My speedometer works right, but is it possible the VSS might still be bad? I do notice if I'm cruising at 55 and let off the gas the RPM will drop down to around 1,000 until I mash it again (the tranny is not slipping). It shifts through all the gears just fine and shifts into 4th at around 45-50 like it's supposed to. I haven't been driving it much because I don't want to cook the tranny.

Have you tested the wiring for a possible open circuit off of the pedal switch?

If your vss is bad, dont think your speedo would function..

Simple ohm meter will work. Disconnect the switch and wiring. Test each wire back to the tcc). All your looking for is to see that the circuit is complete when shorted to ground. You should see a complete loop across the black ground wire and resistance across the other. If that's the case, the ciricuit is good to the tcc and should engage the converter OD at speed. Check the switch itself as well and readjust for pedal arm travel.

I unhooked the connector to the switch I replaced, it had a pink wire and a purple wire (no black one). When I tested them with the ohm meter it showed a complete circuit.

How can I test the plug at the tcc solenoid without the car running? I know I know can ground two terminals on the ALDL, but that isn't supposed to work until it shifts into 2nd gear, right?
