Help Identifying where my TH350 came from
Hey guys,
Not sure if anyone can help me, but it's worth a try...
I recently purchased a TH350 from a junkyard with the intent to rebuild it and put it in my 1982 Trans Am. I bought the TH350 Handbook and have been using it to try and learn about where my tranny came from. So far, I found the Model Identification Code and the VIN. I can't seem to find any markings as to the car or engine this tranny was mated too. According to the book, there should be markings. Here's what I found:
Model Identification: Y4R 06D: Translates to: Built October 6, 1974 during the Day Shift in the Toledo, OH plant. Chevy Built
VIN: 14K435458
Is there any way to determine what car it came from? Maybe - just maybe - a specific car model had the 14K in the VIN that others didnt?
Any help would be appreciated!
Joe

This won't help, but they were building F-cars in Norwood, Ohio. Too bad there wasn't a TH350 plant for each car plant, huh?
