You need to break in clutches the same way/reason you break in brake pads. You want to slowly transfer some of the pad material to the metal friction surface, so during the lifetime most of the friction is mostly material-to-material, not material to metal. The metal's temperature is also slowly raised/lowered, and not spiked, which can change it's crystalline structure.
Break it in easy (stop and go street driving), no downshifts, no WOT, etc. for 500mi, and keep your fingers crossed. |
