stall converter lockup

I'm going from the stock 305 with TPI to a carbed 355 setup. My transmission is a built 700r4. I recently purchased a 3200-3600 vigilante lockup stall converter.

My question is with a stock setup, when does the converter actually lockup? Does it lockup under WOT and when cruising? Also, since I have swapped to carb and am lacking a computer, am I going to have to manually toggle the lockup action of the converter?

Thanks.

Re: stall converter lockup

The stock setup locks up the converter in 3rd or 4th under cruise conditions. It unlocks when the brakes are applied, it downshifts, or you accelerate. B&M, Painless, and TCI all make kits that control the lockup in 4th gear automatically with no computer required.
