firebird T5 shifter

Ok I know this is probably on here but I cant find it so...
Does anyone know if you can put a 4th gen t5 handle in to our 3rd gen set up and if you can is there any benefits to it ie..shorter throw? Thanks

OK another newb question...will the t56 shifter work in a t5?? I'm assuming not but had to ask?
