Ok, My car & I got selected for Pinks all out when they come to seattle in August.
Currently my iroc has the 9 bolt rear end in the car (disc), & I want to go away from it & go with a 10 bolt rear end, with disc brakes & posi.
Need several questions answered.
can I swap my axle from my 9 bolt to a 10 bolt?
what if any 10 bolts came with disc brakes? (with posi) all the local junk yards have 10 bolt drum brakes.
If I have more questions I will ask. But please Let me know. I have a little over 3 months to get the car running & a very limited Budget.
There were many 10 bolt rear ends with disc brakes in the 3rd and 4th gen Camaros and Firebirds. I recommend a '90 or later because of the 28 spline axles and better brakes.
thanks
Ok that leads to the next question, Can I put a 4th gen rear end in my 3rd gen? if so what do I need to make it work, Again a a very limited time base & vERY limited budget
what vehicles in the chevy line up can I get to work with my car? someone suggested S-10 pickups.
The 4th gen rear end will fit, but you might have some clearance problems with the tires. The 4th gen rear end is wider.
The F body rear ends are the only rear ends that will fit yoru car. ALL others are completely different. Some of the inernal parts can be swapped, such as gears and differetnials, but that's about it.
