I have a mildly modified 700 in a 350 powered S-10 pick up. It has the .471 boost valve, .282 int/rev valve, there were some holes enlarged in the seperator plate (wish I had a picture). I removed the cushion spring for the 554 servo and shimmed it following the instructions in a trans go kit. I also put spacers to block movement of the 1-2 and 3-4 accumulators (like in a B&M kit). I put a pin inside the line bias valve spring to prevent it's movement.
The throttle arm on the carb has been modified for the proper pull ratio and it's at max T.V. The governor has been calibrated to put the shift points where I want them, about 2000RPM's light to med throttle, 4700 full throttle.
The problem is, being it is a truck that weighs 3000 lbs it churps the tires from first to second almost all the time, what can I do to prevent this harsh light throttle shift but keep mid to high throttle shifts firm? All other shifts are perfect and I don't want them to change. Should I put the white cushion spring back in the accumulator? What would be best to do? I appreciate any comments or suggestions anyone may have, thanks for reading this long post. It's a 1990 year trans.

First, get rid of the 554 apply servo and go to a 553 servo. Second, shrink the 2nd gear feed hole to .096 (you might need another seperator plate). Third, unblock the 2nd accumulator, put back white spring. Fourth, when you install the 553 servo put all the springs back in the servo this will make for a nicer part throttle 1-2 shift. I would install the Trans-Go Performance Shift kit personally, but these modifications should should work out ok.
Glad Too Help!!!
Thanks for your help, I have a diagram somewhere of the seperator plate and hole sizes, hopefully the valve body won't need removal (feeling lazy). I have some spare parts to work with, guess it'll be next weekends project. Thanks Again.
