85 Iroc; No 1st or over drive

If anyone could bless me with some transmission knowledge or a possible cause for the issues I'm having I would be greatly appreciated. To start with, my 85 Iroc has a 350 TPI w/ 700r4 auto. The engine runs fine, all smooth and perky but the tranny is not playing along. First gear seems non-existent and I never feel the overdrive either, hell I never feel it shift at all, but I know it does. I can cruise down the highway at 65mph and be sitting about 2.5k rpm, so I know its shift to some point but not correctly. If I place the shifter all the way down to 1, the camaro will not move. It feels like I’m pressing the brake at the same time. If I coast down my street around 10mph and shift from D to 1 it brings the car to a stop, just like applying the brakes.
Now for the overdrive gig, There’s no kick down at all when pressing the gas, either full throttle or half, nothing... no change in gears from what I can tell, and when pulling the shifter from OD to D on the highway there’s no change. I'm lost for possible causes other then my TV cable is seriously out of whack and tranny is garbage. Any help or advice would be extremely helpful. Thanks guys...
