700r4 tranny very slugish after rebuild

i just got my car back after having the tranny rebuilt, a 91 350 stcok tpi with a 700. I installed a corvette servo, transgo shift kit plus a 2500 stall convertor. Now i knew the car will be a bit slugish on take off from the high stall, but not this bad, i plan on doing a head and hot cam swap later down the road, but should it be that slugish, im still babying the car but it seems with my old beat up tranny the car was quicker. what minor mods can i do until i eventually upgrade my cam and heads, i have an afpr, slp runners which im yet to install, will this and advancing the timing a bit help any, just wondering if others have had the same prob, or maybe my tranny was not installed correctly thanks

Re: 700r4 tranny very slugish after rebuild

the tranny should be alil sluggish on takeoff due to the stall but it should go like a batt outa hell when it hits the stall speed.... if its still sluggish i would make sure the TV is correctly adjusted... this will make the trans feel like poo and shift horribly. u did the vette servo and trans go shift kit which is normal, i had it and it was pretty good. but i love the insane shifts from the billet servos and boost valves that i added. the boost valves will help increase line pressure firming up the shifts and making them shift "harder" and they are super cheap. like 50$ i got the mega boost valve .500" and the low reverse boost valve from raptor. also installed these with the 30% larger billet servo than the corvette servo, and the 50% larger than stock overdrive billet servo. combined these servos with the boost valves and my already installed trans go shift kit and it really woke up my trans over the vette servo and trans go shift kit.

look at tvmadeez.com for TV adjusting.

i would check the TV cable... if ok then i would make sure u have enough fluid etc. is it a 2500 stall? or does it stall at 2500? companies rate them with a 400rpm diffrence like a 2000-2400 stall or a 2500-2900 stall... and depending on the HP/TQ of ur motor the converter will stall differently. but it will be sluggish if u stay below the stall speed.

try the boost valves, but u should try and see wat the pressures are in the trans.

car is still sluggish im beginning to think the tv is adjusted incorrectly. i still haven't driven the car hard but it does't have the power it had before the rebuild, i had a shop install the trans so i will take it back to them and let them figure it out. just needed a second opinion because the trans shop told me it was normal and what not, i figured once i shifted into drive the car would engage firmly thanks for the help though i apreciated
