V8 T5 Transmission to V6 Swap

Hey guys, I found what looks to be a solid transmission from a 1984 V8 Camaro, its a T5, and I am curious to see how hard it would be to put it on my 1989 2.8 liter, which also has a T5. I know I have to use the V6 bell housing and input shaft, but the speedometer gear is a 7 tooth and identical to the one in my v6, but is there anything else I need to worry about? I do know that the gear ratios are quite different, would this be detrimental on my V6? Any help or advice would be really appreciated. I did a search on the ratios and it didn't seem to turn up anything? This is my first transmission swap so I'm trying to learn what I can and hopefully do it right .

Thanks for reading!

welcome to the board. my point of view is: 1984 T5 is a non world class and the T5 u have right now is a world class. do some reading and find out the difference. hope u get to a conclusion

Re: V8 T5 Transmission to V6 Swap

all you should have to do is buy a v8 clutch disc and use the v6 bellhousing. it should all match up with no need to tear into the tranny.
