700r4 to th350 swap

Ok so i have a 84 trans am that had a 700r4 and i switched it to a th350. I bought the cross member and torque arm kit from spohn got it all together now and it just doesnt look right to me for some reason i have not got the angle set yet or the driveshaft it to see if it looks normal. My biggest problem right now is that I can not seem to see how my factory shifter cable it supposed to bolt on to anything anywhere. There is two bolts holes in the side of the transmisson where it would seem to go but the bolts wholes on the bracket are not stretched out far enough for them both to line up and if the did it wouldnt matter because there is not enough room inbetween the tranny and tranny well fit. So if anybody who has done or know about the set up help out with some pics of what yours looks like or how you did it would be great. Realy starting to frustrate me now.

Re: 700r4 to th350 swap

iirc (sorry been a couple years) when i did my swap on my old camaro, we made one of the holes a slot and bolted it up to the trans pan rail.

you need an aftermarket shifter if you want the shifter to work correctly since your going from 4 gears to 3 b&m and other companies sell them and b&m also makes a conversion kit for the 700 to 350 swap

Re: 700r4 to th350 swap

you do NOT need an aftermarket shifter. the factory shifter will still work just fine, mine does, as did the last camaro. you will however need the conversion kit, its just for torque arm mounting not anything to do with the shifter.
