| Re: 700r4 help please What governor was in it? And what governor did you replace it with? Start with the TV cable being adjusted properly. It should be tight at WOT, and if there is any play it should be no more than a 1/16". You DO NOT solve this playing with the TV cable, you can destroy it. If the governor shifts where you want it at WOT, then take the governor out and remove the lighter (the weaker of the two springs) out of the governor. Re-install it and see what happens. Governor to cover clearance, should be about .040" - .060". It is not critical, but should not be to tight. In your case I would not concern yourself with it now, as the tail housing needs to be off to do this right. When installing the governor cover you should never hit the cover in the middle to install it, just on the outside circle of the cover. Taking out the weaker of the two springs can make it downshift easier (if this is the right governor to start with) and have the part throttle shifts slightly later. Do you know how to tell the differences in the governors? Let us know what happens here. Dana |
