700r4 transmission shifting problems

this is in an 87 305 700r4

Condition: under a heavy load(ie foot is into it) it hesitates to shift from 1st to 2nd it will hold the RPMs at around 4500/5000 rpm or so (its been a while since ive driven it, so its about there

anyways, it will hold the rpm for up to 5 seconds sometimes more
but the rest of the shifting is fine under the same heavier load (ie 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th) are all fine

under a light load, it will shift just fine into all gears

i have jsut removed the governor, because i was told that was prob the problem, and looking at the gears on it , they look fine, is there anything else on the governor that could be wrong? i really dont know what im looking at

or is there anouther cause for this problem?

thanks

mike

Re: 700r4 transmission shifting problems

throw a jet servo at it and you won't be sorry. it will eliminate any second delay if there is no other problem than the band not quite catching during wot. it will fix second and firm third as a bonus.
