For the Tranmission guru's: Switching from Superior to Transgo shift kit.

I have a built 700r4 that has a superior kit in it. The transmission performs well however, it shifts to second gear when held in manual low. This "feature" is causing my 1-2 shift to occur at ~5000rpm when I would like to shift at 6500. I understand that the Transgo kit will allow 1st and 2nd to be manually held to any rpm.

My question is has anyone had experience installing the superior kit? I need to know if the changes made with the superior kit will conflict with the transgo setup. (ie drilling of an area in the valve body where the transgo setup remains factory)
Also, is there a specific modification that can be performed that will allow me to hold 1st gear until I command an upshift?

Thanks in advance!

Re: For the Tranmission guru's: Switching from Superior to Transgo shift kit.

You should be able to to this, as the hole sizes in the separator plate might be too large for the 2nd gear apply. But they can be brought down. You will need to have a hardened race to put the separator plate on and then you will need a 1/2" -3/8" checkball to use to bring down the hole size that is too large. You will have to look at the Superior instructions, and see what the differences are. Worst case scenario, you will need a TransGo separator plate to solve this. I have these and the modified TransGo Perfoamnce Shift kits and I can modify them to what ever you need to match torque converter, rear end gear ratio, and how you drive, etc. Let me know? Dana
