Transmission will not shift, and is stuck on Drive.

I have a V-6 Camaro with I believe the 700r4 transmission. The problem with it is that it is stuck on Drive regardless if I put the shifter in another position. It will not go in park, reverse, or anything else. Also, when I drive it, it struggles to change gears, and revs up the engine very badly although I'm only going about 20mph, and then suddenly brakes fast when I put the brake on it.

I'd appreciate any kind of help on the situation because I do not want it sitting around anymore.

Re: Transmission will not shift, and is stuck on Drive.

from underneath the car see if your able to shift the car manually into the other gears (P R N D D 2 1) if so it sounds like a shift cable (25 bucks at advanced auto and around 45 mins to install)as for your other problem um yeah probably time for a rebuild
