Megashifter help

I just put in a megashifter in my 92 camaro and I am having a little trouble. So my transmission is supposed to be a four speed as far as i know but after the install it seems I onmly have 3 gears. It goes P-R-N-d-2-1. I think I need to adjust my cable and play around with that because it's really hard to get it out of park and switch into drive. Do you think all I need to do is adjust the cable and it'll fix the gear problem?

Re: Megashifter help

Did you also remember to take the pin out of the mega shifter so it will work with a 4 speed as per the directions.

Re: Megashifter help

Adjusting the cable correctly is a must with these. I had a mechanic pull my cable off and disregard the my instructions not to. I almost got into an accident because I could not shift my car into drive. these shifters do work on 3 and 4 speed autos and do require they are set up for the specific application (pulling the pin like GILLIGAN said).

Yeah I pulled the pin. There was only one pin I had to pull right?

Re: Megashifter help

I am having the same issue with a Hurst Dual Gate that I recently had the shop install. Currently I cannot get the shifter into Low 1. When I adjust the cable so that I do have Low 1, I lose Park.

I'm going to try a new shifter cable first. Hurst tech guy gave me a different part number than the last Hurst tech guy. Last hurst guy's cable not working, So I'm going to try new Hurst Tech guy's cable. He seems to think that that's the problem.

Let me know what you find out....

Re: Megashifter help

If you disconnect the cable from the trans and the shifter goes through all gears then you know it is the adjustment. These cable have to have swooping bends anything to tight will cause binding I noticed when installing mine it was very diffcult to get the cable to lay right, at that time I was also working on other updates so I just pulled the trans to make things easy I am not sdaying to pull the trans out, but make sure that the bend comming out of the hole in the floor in not kinked if you lower the cross member you can get better access not to bash B&M but for something that is suppose to be a bolt on you have to modify alot of things to get it to work.

Re: Megashifter help

ok I fixed the hard shifting and the forth gear problem by adjusting the the cable. Also the car has been having trouble starting, it seems like the neutral safety switch isnt working or something. Has anyone else had any trouble with car starting after putting in the megashifter?
