WEIRD 700R4 SHIFT PROBLEMS

Under normal driving conditions the trans perform perfectly. At wide open throttle it will not shift out of 2nd gearunless i pick my foot up off the floor about 1/4 of the way then it shifts.

Next problem is at WOT in third at about 90 mph the trans will slip and rev hard to the rev limiter.Again if i pull my foot up some I can get it to go past 90 mph but its no where near wot at that point and keeps wanting to slip.
Like I said,it shifts fine under normal driving conditions. It will slip sometimes if i`m trying to pass on the interstate when I get in it pretty hard.

I`ve been told it could be TV cable so i adjusted it the way I`ve read on here.

I`ve taken it back to the builder 4 or 5 times and they keep saying evrything looks fine and now its after the warranty.Plus I`ve moved 75 miles away.I`ve pretty much given up on these crooks.

I took it to another local, highly recomended shop who checked and readjusted the TV cable. He test drove it with me and said he thought the 3rd gear slip was the forward sprag.

I was also told it could be the governer.Any ideas?I did change to a 2500 stall and the gear from a 2.73 to a 3.42 if this could affect anything, but the trans didnt act this way at first. Thanks in advance.sorry so long.

Re: WEIRD 700R4 SHIFT PROBLEMS

My first guess would've been the governor too, but that wouldn't really account for the slippage. I'll give you the usual response and recommend giving Dana at Pro-Built Automatics a call or send him a PM. He's helped me in the past over the phone when I hadn't even bought anything from him at that point in time. He spent at least 20 minutes on the phone with me telling me exactly how I should set up a Trans-Go shift kit that I didn't even purchase from him. Very helpful guy, and I'm always glad to refer new customers to him. He's setting up a street/strip rebuild kit for my 700r4 as I type this.
